Inflammation

Our commitment to clinical research for inflammatory bowel disease

Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease are lifelong conditions that often begin in a person’s twenties. Our studies evaluate new mechanisms of action for people whose current treatment has stopped working.

Our research

What are we studying?

Learn more about our areas of research and see whether one of our clinical trials might be right for you.

Ulcerative colitis

  • Inflammation is continuous and confined to the large intestine, which makes it more predictable than Crohn’s but no easier to live with.
  • Many people respond well to a first biologic and then lose that response over time.
  • Our studies focus on what comes after that loss of response.

Crohn’s disease

  • Inflammation can appear anywhere from mouth to anus and reaches through the whole bowel wall, which is why complications such as strictures and fistulas occur.
  • Symptoms fluctuate, so studies measure endoscopic healing rather than relying on how a person reports feeling on a given day.
